Develop the students understanding of the concept of sustainable development with an approach to the planning, design, construction and management of buildings and cities within minimum environmental impact.

Objectives On completion of this course students should be able to:
- Understand the application of principles of sustainable development in policy and practice
- Understand the issues involved in the concepts and practice of sustainable development
- Formulate a framework for decision making that would improve the sustainability of an urban development

4. Energy/Greenhouse gas emissions

6. Resources and waste management
7. Biodiversity
8. Green/sustainable buildings and communities

10. Case study and lessons from new development
11. Case study and lessons from green retrofitting and refurbishment
