Architecture has diverse research opportunities and this course provides students with the opportunity to undertake a self directed project which draws on the philosophical, theoretical, ethical and methodological concepts and processes associated with academic research activities within the architectural discipline.
ObjectivesOn completion of this course students should be able to: 1. Effectively undertake an Architectural practice based research project. 2. Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills. 3. Identify and engage with with appropriate literature to identify appropriate information and synthesise this in a scholarly report 4. Utilise planning skills for successful project outcomes. 5. Demonstrate the ability to carry out independent research in design. 6. Display an ability to apply critical and analytical skills. 7. Demonstrate research, production and time management skills. | ||
ContentThe content of the research project in the discipline of design will be substantially determined by the student in consultation with their supervisor. This may include a creative or practical project; work-integrated learning experience and/or a thesis appropriate to research undertaken in the Architecture Discipline. The student will engage with the research methodologies, legal and ethical approaches appropriate to the discipline. | ||
