Introduces issues associated with architecture and urbanisation and specifically the living and working environments of high rise towers. The course addresses the economic, environmental, political, regulatory, socio-cultural and technical contexts of high rise design. Architectural theories and strategies are developed to respond to conflicting contextual and environmental constraints on design. Through progressive research, discussion and critique, students develop and present theoretical frameworks and project proposals using 2 and 3 dimensional media that integrates architectural design, communication, technical detail, environmental consideration, creativity, construction and theoretical knowledge.
