This course combines the study of sound and light within the context of total building performance, health of buildings and occupants historically and practically. Elements of measurement, insulation, reverberation of sound energy efficiency and sources of light will be integrated into the design construction and refurbishment of buildings against the background of creating an efficient and healthy built environment.
| Objectives | On completion of this course students should be able to: - Identify the principals of total building performance - Identify and apply basic noise and acoustic principles and requirements to the built environment - Identify and apply basic lighting principles and requirements to the built environment - Investigate the concept of "sick building syndrome", Indoor Air Quality, Thermal Comfort - Present written and visual concepts and ideas |
