Considers complex public building types, major institutional clients and a diversity of building users. Design problems deal with interrelationships of spaces and specialist functions, including, public interface, public assembly and functional performance. Projects will have an emphasis on a "Greenfield" site with minimal requirements for fire protection and on framed structural systems using timber and/or steel.

Prepare design solutions to support sustainable buildings
Present ideas and designs graphically and verbally
Analysis of design theories, processes and architectural positions and develop the ability to use them creatively

The content of Design Studies, integrated into Architecture 3 studio, includes conceptual design of larger buildings; architectural symbolism semiotics, meaning and language; developed design models and case studies; fa¿ade composition; architectural positions; art and science in architecture and engineering.
