Designed to increase the base level knowledge and understanding of the most effective means of communication with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities. The course covers an introduction of communication processes from traditional to contemporary situations. Processes surrounding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols, decision making, community management, communication styles including verbal, non-verbal, graphical, performance are studied The course also extends its exploration into the images of Aborigines in contemporary media. The course utilises oration and talking circle*.
* Talking circles are designed to promote knowledge sharing as a collaborative venture and are not dissimilar to tutorials.
