Investigates the basic concept of land ownership and the devastating effects of dispossession and assimilation. A general background in issues such as land rights, education, health, welfare, housing and employment is provided.

| Content | The course is an introduction to Aboriginal life from traditional society pre-invasion, through the invasion and contact period, up until contemporary issues in Aboriginal affairs. Issues of traditional life-style, custom and law and the effects of invasion including genocide, alienation from land, protection, assimilation, integration, self-determination and reconciliation policies, practices and outcomes are addressed. | ||||
