Light is everything to photography! With a developed understanding of light and lighting the photographer is more able to control the photographic image. This course provides the student with a range of opportunities to research and extend photographic skills using available or introduced light. This will include landscape, interior and portrait as a focus for projects. Students will be familiarized with the professional studio environment and work with ultra high resolution cameras. The student will also work with ambient light and portable lighting, and develop an understanding of the skills required for successful night photography. The student will, through independent research and critiques, produce a portfolio of work.
| Objectives | At the end of the course students will be able: 1. To foster the understanding of light and lighting for the photographer; 2. To provide the student with skills to assist in controlling the photographic environment; 3. To promote awareness contemporary practice in photography; 4. To develop an understanding of composition and design through photography; 5. To gain knowledge and skills in photographic studio practice; 6. To present a portfolio of work in reference to the research undertaken; |
