2-D Art: Sources and Presentations of Imagery

Consolidates information, ideas, skills and working attitudes in preparation for developing individual projects and independent research in relation to 2-D art disciplines such as drawing, painting and printmaking.

Objectives
1. To encourage creative, imaginative and experimental approaches in using 2-D art media;

2. To develop individual strengths and competencies in 2-D art technology;

3. To commence defining specific directions in individual research of 2-D art practice;

4. To develop critical awareness and informed dialogue of contemporary issues in 2-D art.
Content
Topics may include:

1. Individual scope in interpreting project parameters;

2. Obtaining, preparing and adapting appropriate source imagery;

3. Selecting relevant studio/fieldwork processes and techniques;

4. Developing works in series, editions, portfolios;

5. Devising suitable presentation/publication formats;

6. Study of relevant past and contemporary practitioners;

7. Critical seminars of completed projects and associated research material;

8. Compilation of journals, sketchbooks and other relevant research material;

9. Health and safety.
