Introduces to Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Fine Art students drawing techniques in a wide variety of media, suitable for implementation into the secondary art syllabus.
Emphasis will be given to the expansion of observational,perceptual, experimental and technical dimensions of the drawing process.

Objectives 1. To develop skills in a range of media and techniques
2. To develop an understanding of the broad historical conventions and practices of drawing as a creative discipline
3. To develop the ability to critically evaluate individual progress
4. To develop independent research abilities relating to drawing, i.e: its usefulness in art as a descriptive and problem solving discipline
5. To develop a philosophical approach as to the relevance of drawing in the contemporary era
Content Emphasis is placed on the development of individual interpretations and adaptions within the framework of projects and studio-based explorations devoted to various aspects of the syllabus:
Procedures in developing hand-and-eye coordination
Diverse modes of selective perception of drawing subjects
Concepts and techniques of modelling,massing and volume formation.
Tonal contrast and organisational principles in drawing composition.
Selection and exploration of coloured drawing media.
Field size, shape and proportion considerations.
Compilation of drawing sketch books and studio journals.
Health and safety considerations.
