3D Art: Evaluation and Analysis

Develops students' knowledge and understanding of three-dimensional art practices within a contemporary framework. Staff-directed and self-motivated projects extend the range of 3-D processes and expand students' technical knowledge and skill acquisition. Conceptually based 3-D practices are linked to individual approaches and students independent artistic activity. Strong emphasis is placed upon experimentation and the exploration of ideas.

Objectives
1. To reinforce philosophical and conceptual approaches to 3-D practice within historical and contemporary frameworks:

4. To assist students to seek professional attitudes to 3-D Art practice and establish the area of specialisation in a broad sense;

5. To prepare students for specialisation in 3-D studies;

6. To provide a sound historical background of twentieth century artists, with a strong emphasis on Australian artists working in 3-D practice.

Topics may include:

3-D process integration and assimilation.

Workshop techniques;

Use of natural forces in 3-D artwork;

Installation and environment artwork;

Preparation and recording in site specific artwork;

Advanced material technologies;

Introduction to de-construction approaches to 3-D practice;

Experimentation and new technology;

Model; design considerations, production and presentation;

Research as resource;

Evaluation and analysis of 3-D artworks;

Health and safety.
