This course is for students enrolled in programs other then the Bachelor of Fine Art and it introduces the basic core skills required to develop and explore the expressive potential of current drawing, painting or printmaking practices. This foundation considers the basic material, technical, historical, theoretical and conceptual dimensions of these media.
| Objectives | At the completion of this course students will: 1. Develop an informed, individual visual sensibility and creative language. 2. Demonstrate creative engagement in various aspects of 2D practice. 3. Display an understanding of a basic range of technical and theoretical approaches to Drawing or Painting or Printmaking. 4. Display an ability to integrate ideas with practice. 5. Execute resolved artwork. |

| Content | 1. Engagement in studio practice. 2. Introduction to research methodologies in 2D artistic practices, including industry reviews and gallery exhibitions. 3. Become familiar with related historical, conceptual, ethical, and theoretical issues underpinning contemporary 2D practices. 4. Understanding how to execute basic resolved artwork. 5. An awareness of safe and responsible work practices. |
