Introduces students to foundational knowledge of elements of art, music, drama and dance. It will examine ways in which the four art forms can be integrated to create art that is dynamic and expressive, building upon basic understandings of the nature and purpose of these art forms.

Attendance: students are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of this course

Objectives After successfully completing AART1010 students will be able to demonstrate:

1. A practical appreciation of visual art, music, drama and dance as mediums of creative expression.

2. Foundational and integrative skills in the production of creative works in the mediums of visual art, music, drama and dance.
Content Develop an awareness and understanding of the Creative Arts.

Be able to employ critical and analytical skills in relation to the interpretation of Creative Arts.

Be aware of the cultural and historical contexts of the Creative Arts.

Understand the importance of self-expression and the function of the Creative Arts.

Understand the developmental process, from conception to completion, of creative works.

Have an understanding of issues relating to Health and Safety.
