Message from Conservatorium Co-ordinator
In 2012, the Conservatorium celebrated 60 years of music education in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region. From its humble beginnings in huts in Civic Park, the Conservatorium now boasts state of the art concert and teaching facilities.
As well as providing lessons in classical music performance. "The Con" now opens its doors to all styles of music. You can often hear Rock, Jazz, Pop, Folk, Electronic, Classical and Early Childhood sounds emanating from our buildings located around the City Precinct adjacent to Civic Park.
The Conservatorium has a premier Concert Hall which is in constant demand for concerts by local, interstate and international artists. Our creative production, recording and computer labs are available for all types of IT classes.
Our staff are experts in their field whether you want to learn an instrument, take classes in music reading and writing or join one of our community ensembles, we will facilitate your music needs.
The Conservatorium prides itself on serving the Newcastle and Hunter Valley Community by delivering extensive programs. We cater for all ages, at all levels and my recommendation to you is to make the time. Music is something we all deserve to experience.
So come along to our concerts at the Con and enjoy the excitement of hearing live music! Come to the Con and revel in the experience of learning that instrument you love to play. It could even be the piano accordion or turn-table and mixer!
This Conservatorium is your Conservatorium and we want you to be part of our musical heritage and future.
