BRACElet is a multi-institutional research study of how novice programmers comprehend and write computer programs. While it is a research project, it remains close to educational practice, with much of the data analyzed coming from exam papers sat by first year undergraduates at the participating universities.
The whole of Friday 25 January (three sessions) will be taken up with a BRACElet workshop. The morning sessions will introduce BRACElet to people who have not already taken part in the project. These sessions will be aimed (1) at people who might be interested in joining the project (at present there are no restrictions on joining BRACElet), and (2) at people who would just like to see what the project might tell them about how to write better exam papers for novice programmers.
After lunch, the final session will be aimed at people who, following the morning session, are still considering joining the BRACElet project. This session will finish in time for participants to catch the 3pm airport shuttle.
As this workshop is part of the ACE programme, there is no additional registration fee. You can even decide on the morning of the workshop that you will attend. However, if you are likely to attend, for planning and catering purposes please email Raymond Lister <raymond@it.uts.edu.au>.
