Staff Giving
Many of our staff have gone above and beyond to make a difference to the lives of our students and researchers.
As a member of staff you can support existing University of Newcastle Foundation projects that are important to you. The Staff Voluntary Salary Deduction Scheme allows you to arrange automatic payroll deductions to the University of Newcastle Foundation for the purpose of your choice. These donations
are tax deductible.

Professor Geoff Evans
School of Engineering
Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment
Donates to the Shaping Futures Scholarship Fund (Annual Appeal)
"I received information in the mail about the University's Annual Appeal and was delighted to receive it and see that the University has taken on such an initiative.
I thought this is just fantastic; this really is a meaningful thing. The whole concept of the University doing something for the disadvantaged students is brilliant. As a staff member I am passionate and see it as a worthwhile cause."

A/Prof. Suzanne Ryan,
Newcastle Business School
Faculty of Business and Law
Donates to the R A Ryan Memorial Prize for Organisational Behaviour
"I set up this prize in honour of my mother Rachel Ann Ryan.
I've also always had a very strong feeling that the University of Newcastle has given me a life and a career and I should give back to it. The best way to give back is through students."

Damien Harvey
Senior Management Accountant
Financial Services, Vice-Chancellor's Division
Donates to the Endowment Fund
"Working behind the scenes so to speak at the University means you sometimes forget what absolutely wonderful things students are doing and that they need just a bit of a leg up to make their way.
Donating is easy to do and up to you to nominate how much you want to give."

Tanille Elley
School Executive Officer
School of Education, Faculty of Education and Arts
Donates to the Glen Avery Memorial Scholarship Fund
"I give to honour Glen's memory. There's been trivia nights, we've organised raffles etc. It's a great sense of community to honour someone and do good while doing it.
Any group of staff can do it if they see an area of need or a meaningful cause.
It was made so easy for us to give to the scholarship. We knew how much Glen was into the arts so it seemed fitting. We gave what we could. You don't even miss it".

Prof John O'Connor
Head of School, Mathematical and Physical Sciences
Faculty of Science and Information Technology
Donates to the Endowment Fund
"I don't notice the money coming out of my salary. It doesn't have to be a lot.
If a lot of people contribute, small amounts build up.
The other reason I donated is because I know the University well. I know what it does and think it worth supporting. I also think that there was a need there. It's something I always wanted to do."
