Newcastle campus hire facilities

Our Newcastle campus is twelve kilometres from the Newcastle city centre, and comprises high-tech laboratories and teaching facilities across 140 hectares of bushland. We have a range of rooms available and we are constantly upgrading our world-leading facilities and technology to provide a perfect setting for any event.

Auditoriums

The Great Hall

Officially opened in 1973 the Great Hall is the largest of our function rooms. Featuring a stepped auditorium ceiling, the facility is fully air conditioned and provides a large stage that can accommodate a full Symphony Orchestra.

Griffith Duncan Theatre

The Griffith Duncan Theatre is used as a University teaching space and is not currently available for hire.

Function rooms

The Bar on the Hill, The Godfrey Tanner Bar and a variety of other facilities are available for hire for a range of functions from gigs, weddings, birthday parties and balls. These facilities are managed by UoN Services and you have the option to have your event catered by Sapphire Catering. For more information please see UoN Services.

Sporting facilities

NUsport manages a range of world-class sporting facilities for hire at Callaghan campus.

The Forum Sports and Aquatic Centre offers an eight lane 50 meter indoor heated pool with seating for 400 spectators. Also available are two multipurpose courts for activities such as basketball, volleyball, netball and badminton.

Five sporting ovals with high quality surfaces are available at this campus. Three of these ovals are floodlit.
