Welcome Indigenous Researchers
Umulliko has made significant
contributions to the current debate on Indigenous theoretical
perspectives and research methodologies nationally and internationally.
We hosted the first annual 'Indigenous Researchers Forum'
in 1999. This forum focused on Indigenous theoretical approaches
and methodologies. Umulliko takes an Indigenous World View
approach to research.
In any consideration, we (Indigenous
Australians) are not 'Other'. We are at the centre of
our own lives and our own history, and we need to give
primacy to that position. We stand in relation to the
mainstream but we do not have to view that relationshi
as secondary to it, as it has been inscribed in the corpus
of Western Disciplines.
