the CENTRE for SPECIAL EDUCATION and DISABILITY STUDIES

The Centre for Special Education and Disability Studies brings together the academic and research expertise of staff at The University of Newcastle and at Renwick College of the Royal Institute of Deaf and Blind Children in Sydney to improve the educational and quality of life outcomes for people with disabilities and special needs across the lifespan.

Professional development
• Conferences, research discussions and forums to promote research into practice in the community

• Sensory disabilities, behaviour and emotional difficulties, developmental disabilities, integration and inclusion, early childhood intervention, students with multiple and severe disabilities, and adults with disabilities
• Research higher degree students support

• Staff have professional associations with special education and disability groups in the community
