Advisory Board

There were several changes to the make-up of our Advisory Board in 2006. Prof Trevor Waring resigned from the Board when he took up his position as Chancellor of the University of Newcastle. Julie Midson York resigned from the University Council; as her position on our Advisory Board was that of Council Representative she was no longer eligibile to be an FAC Board member. Our third resignation was Mr Wayne Ible, who resigned following his resignation from the Department of Education and Training. The Family Action Centre thanks all three for their long-term commitment to the Centre.

Prof Leonie Ashman replaced Julie Midson York at the University Council representative. We also welcomed Prof John Maynard and Mr John Mather (DET) to the Board. No Chairperson has, as yet, been appointed.

The current line-up of the Board is, therefore, as follows:

Prof Ashman
Ms Penny Crofts
Prof Diana Keatinge
Mr John Mather
Prof John Maynard
Prof Margaret McMillan
Ms Nancy O'Connor
Mr Bill Robertson
Professor Phil Foreman
Ms Deb Hartman

In the 2004-05 annual report, Julie Midson York said of the Family Action Centre:

"The FAC Advisory Board is always amazed and heartened by the work, commitment, innovations, and values-driven strength-based programs that keep flowing from the minds and hearts of the dedicated team and volunteers at the Centre.

The whole team is a fine group of people who demonstrate their strengths, creativity and resilience no matter what the task, to help build a better stronger society.

Being board members allows us a bird's eye view of the challenges faced by management and field workers, submissions for new projects, development of resources, conference planning and presentations, action research, networking for sponsorship and support, to name just a few.

We commend the FAC's focus and feel privileged to be a part of this dynamic and responsive group that's making a positive difference to the lives of so many people; a difference that is spreading its wings nationally and internationally."
