The Earth and Ocean Science Research Group is located in the School of Environmental and Life Sciences at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. The UNEOS group specialises in research on sediments, sedimentary rocks and sediment processes in marine, coastal and terrestrial environments. Current projects include sedimentation on the valleys, coast, continental shelf and deep ocean of south east Australia. Here we are involved in seabed mapping, sediment transport, sea level studies, Quaternary evolution, paleoclimate and stratigraphic modelling. We are also investigating terrestrial sedimentation and sequence stratigraphy in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, the Book Cliffs in Utah and the Sydney Basin Australia, as well as detailed correlation and sedimentary environment reconstruction in Permian coal measures.
