Student Clubs & Associations

University Union

Central to student life is the UoN Services Limited. Its 20,000 members enjoy an array of facilities including cafeterias, coffee shops and bars, travel agency, post office, bookshop, credit union, gift and stationery shops and a hairdresser. The Union also organises many of the University’s important cultural and social events, such as the Orientation Ball, Beach Party and the Cultural Awakenings Festival.

NUSport

NUSport offers students access to a variety of recreational and sporting activities including squash, tennis, badminton, volleyball, indoor soccer, martial arts, hang-gliding, mountaineering, archery, fencing, surfing and snow skiing. Tuition is available in sports such as golf, weight training, gymnasium sports, water sports and self-defence. Sporting facilities at the University include squash courts, a tennis complex, five playing ovals, and a large multi-purpose sporting complex (Sports Forum and Aquatic Centre) featuring an indoor olympic size swimming pool, gymnasium and weight training room, basketball and volleyball courts, cafeteria and sports shop. A list of over 50 sporting clubs and societies may be obtained from the Sport and Recreation Office.

Newcastle University Student Association

The Newcastle University Student Association (NUSA) represents its members to the University, government and other bodies outside the University.
