Travel to NewcastleGetting to Newcastle Getting to NewcastleGetting to Newcastle is easy and the city is the hub of the Hunter Valley, one of Australia's most attractive holiday and tourism destinations. Newcastle is only 2 hours north of Sydney and has road, rail and air access. A locality map is available from the University Union to help find locate various landmarks in the Newcastle area. International VisitorsInternational Visitors need to take a domestic flight to Newcastle from their port of entry into Australia. Alternatively you can take the train to Newcastle (Newcastle Station is a five-minute walk from the conference venue) or hire a car. By TrainTransport from Sydney to Newcastle is also readily available by train. (Newcastle Station is a five-minute walk from the conference venue.) Trains can be boarded at both the International and Domestic Airports in Sydney via Central Station and will take approximately 2.5 hours to get to Newcastle. The City Rail web site has current timetables at http://www.cityrail.info By AirNewcastle Airport (Williamtown) is the major regional airport and is located 30 minutes from Newcastle city centre. The airport is served by a several airlines and has daily flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra as well as some regional NSW centres. Aeropelican, located at Belmont Airport (30 minutes south of Newcastle city centre) provides a number of return commuter flights daily to Sydney. Parking should be available at your hotel and some day-time parking is available at the conference venue on a first-come first-serve basis. Other options include metered parking and nearby parking stations.
