Newcastle, Australia
Newcastle is situated on the Pacific coast, approximately two-hours drive north of Sydney.
AIR: Direct flights from Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney to Newcastle Airport (Williamtown) are provided by the Ansett affiliate IMPULSE AIRLINES (ph. 13 1381 or 13 1300). Direct flights from Canberra, Brisbane and Sydney to Newcastle Airport (Williamtown) are also offered by Qantas (ph. 13 1313). Regular flights from Sydney to Belmont Airport are provided by the Ansett (ph. 13 1300) affiliate AEROPELICAN. A regular float-plane service between Sydney Harbour and Newcastle Harbour is operated by Sydney Harbour Seaplanes (ph. 1 800 803 558). Strict luggage limits apply on that service. Airport Transfers Newcastle Airport (Williamtown) is located approximately 25 mins to the north of the CBD and Belmont Airport approximately 25 mins to the south. Taxi services are available from both airports. TRAIN: Regular services from Sydney are provided by State Rail (ph. 13 1500). The journey takes approximately two-and-a-half to three hours. A daily reserved-seat service is operated by Countrylink (ph. 13 2232). Reservations on that service may only be made 24 hours in advance, and the stop for Newcastle is located in suburban Broadmeadow, approximately 10 minutes from the CBD. COACH: Newcastle is serviced by a number of coach companies, including Sid Fogg's Coaches (ph. 02-4928-1088), McCafferty's Express Coaches (ph. 13 1499), and Greyhound Pioneer Australia (ph. 13 2030). Most coach services terminate at Newcastle Railway Station, across the road from the conference venue, although delegates are advised to check with their travel agent as to the most convenient service.
