Property as a basis of social relationships identifies points of economic, political and cultural conflict within and among societies. Practical problems of the landlord‑tenant relationship, like more obviously complex property relationships involved in Native Title, need to be clarified not only by courts but also by research that aims to articulate, and engage with, different social perspectives. The Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Property Rights is a Research Centre, established by The University of Newcastle, dedicated to research (including historical, political, cultural, sociological and legal research) into property rights, property law and land distribution in developed and developing countries. CISPR engages scholars from an international consortium of universities, research centres, institutes and public sector organisations in academic research. |
