The Hunter Heart and Stroke Register is an important initiative that demonstrates commitment to health outcomes by the Hunter Area Health Service. It was established by the Area Health Service in July 1995.
The aims of the Register are to monitor trends in admissions, readmissions and deaths from heart disease or stroke as well as to provide a cohort of participants for research into cardiovascular disease. Over 27,500 cardiovascular patients have now been identified since the inception of the register. A number of studies have been conducted through the Register and several publications have been produced from this source. Current related studies include:
Secondary prevention in patients with cardiovascular disease and;
Cardiac Rehabilitation Indicator Project (CRIP)
