Congratulations to Professor David De Kretser who was appointed the 27th Governor of Victoria on Friday 7th April 2006. The Inauguration was attended by the Premier, Steve Bracks, along with former Premiers and Governors of Victoria and current members of the Government. Professor DeKretser will remain as part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Biotechnolgy & Development by serving as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board. We wish David all the best in his new position.

Professor David Jans has been awarded The GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences Award in 2005. This award is presented by the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to an Australian scientist for distinguished contributions to this field. The award includes a medal that will be presented at ComBio 2005 meeting in Adelaide on September 25-29th, 2005.

Dr Mark Baker has been awarded a Postgraduate Trainee Merit Award and the Lalor International Travel Award from the American Society of Andrology. This award was presented at the American Society of Andrology Meeting, 2-5 April 2005, Seattle, USA.
