Congratulations to Professor David De Kretser who was appointed the 27th Governor of Victoria on Friday 7th April 2006. The Inauguration was attended by the Premier, Steve Bracks, along with former Premiers and Governors of Victoria and current members of the Government. Professor DeKretser will remain as part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Biotechnolgy & Development by serving as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board. Professor David Jans has been awarded The GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences Award in 2005. This award is presented by the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to an Australian scientist for distinguished contributions to this field. The award includes a medal that will be presented at ComBio 2005 meeting in Adelaide on September 25-29th, 2005.
