Your Guide to Alumni Resources
The University Global Alumni Network is made up of dynamic and diverse graduates, from those at the height of their careers to brand new graduates starting out. As a member of the network, there are a number of resources and opportunities available for you as this support network continues to grow.
How to access Alumni Resources
There is no fee to pay to become a member of your alumni network. As a graduate of the University of Newcastle you are automatically recognised as part of the University Alumni Network. You must keep your contact details updated to receive relevant information.
However, some chapters in the network may charge a membership fee for registration purposes.
Chapter Development
Join an existing chapter or get involved in setting up a chapter. This might be related to your discipline;
(e.g. law, communications or engineering), or your local area; (e.g. Newcastle, Samoa or London). To find out more about existing chapters or to start your a new chapter, please visit the Alumni Chapters page.
Alumni Receptions
Alumni Receptions are held each year in both Australian and international locations. In order to receive your exclusive invitation to an alumni reception in your local area, make sure to update your contact details online.
Communication and Connection
From 2010, graduating students can now keep their "@uon.edu.au" email address for life – with the option of forwarding it to a preferred email address. In the near future this perpetual email will be available retrospectively to all past graduates.
All graduates automatically receive free subscription to the Alumni Magazine (produced three times a year) and you can connect with your fellow alumni online on our Facebook page, LinkedIn group or Twitter.
Alumni Advisory Committee (AAC)
The Alumni Advisory Committee (AAC) is a group of graduates elected by their peers to represent the alumni community. Any graduate of the University of Newcastle can stand for election to this committee annually in October at the Annual General Meeting.
The President of Alumni can be contacted at alumni-president@newcastle.edu.au
Alumni Awards
You can nominate your peers, or be nominated for the Alumni Awards offered by the Alumni Advisory Commitee (AAC). The Awards recognise professional excellence, innovation, creativity, exceptional leadership and those who inspire others in a range of fields through their local, national or international service.
Nominations for the 2012 Alumni Awards are now open. The recipients of the awards will be announced at a gala dinner in Newcastle in October.
For more information on the nomination process, timeline, guidelines and past recipients, please visit the Alumni Awards website.
