Like many a student, a focus on his social life saw Mark Chim take four years to complete a three year course with, by his own admission, “mediocre results”. However, life after graduation has been far from mediocre. Mark is now the Managing Director of a Hong Kong company with an annual turnover in excess of US$35 million.

Inspiration by those who supported him has been key to Mark’s career path. He says, “My course mates and tutors were not sure where I would end up. Relative to the current situation, they would agree that I have come far and I have been truly inspired by many of them. I attribute my success to the encouragement, support and inspiration I have received from ex-classmates, tutors and university mates. I still continue to keep in touch with many of them and note that they are also very successful in their careers.

Recalling his university days as a positive and indeed formative experience, combined with his continued endeavours to build his career and family life, Mark embraced the University’s motto ‘I look ahead’ from his student days.
