Achieving a dream
It’s not every day someone comes along and helps you achieve your dreams. But day after day, that’s what Jennie Thomas does for our students.
As a long-time supporter of the University Foundation, Jennie has helped many of our students achieve their dreams. And in turn, Jennie is realising her dream: to leave a better world for those who come after her.
"I like to give with a warm hand and a warm heart. Giving is one of life’s simple pleasures and through this I am able to make a difference to the lives of people, not only in our community, but also throughout the world."
And make a difference she has. Jennie’s generosity and support has led to ground-breaking research in health and the environment and award-winning performances in music and fine arts.
The first recipient of the Jennie Thomas art scholarship, Alexia Sinclair, went on to win the Harpers BAZAAR Canon Fashion Photography Award in 2007.
"Winning a Jennie Thomas Scholarship made an incredible difference to me. Not only because of the money but the fact that someone really believed in me. Jennie was such an incredible source of psychological support."
Jennie dedicates herself to each and every student that she supports. Taking them under her wing, she begins each journey by asking "What is your dream?". She then actively takes part, as mentor and friend until the path is travelled and the dream is fulfilled.
Jennie Thomas is the ultimate dream achiever.
