Terms and conditions
1. THE PROMOTER
1.1. "The Promoter" is the WCMS Project Team, Marketing and Public Relations, Vice-Chancellor's Division, The University of Newcastle (ABN 15 736 576 735).
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1. Entry is open to all staff of the University of Newcastle, its controlled entities and anyone who works on campus.
2.2. Members of the University of Newcastle Web Project Team are ineligible.
3.1. The competition will commence 12:00am 26 February 2014 and end at 5:00pm 04 April 2014.
3.2. The competition will be drawn and/or decided at the time, on the date and at the location specified by the Promoter. The prize will be awarded to a valid entrant (as applicable) with the details specified by the Promoter regarding how the prize will be awarded.
4. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
4.1. Participation in this competition is considered acceptance of the following:
- a complete release of Instagram by any entrant or participant
- acknowledgement that this competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram; and
4.2. All entries must adhere to the University of Newcastle's Code of Conduct Policy and Social Media Communications Policy.
4.3. The Promoter reserves the right to remove any entries which are in breach of the Code of Conduct Policy and the Social Media Communications Policy.
4.4. All valid entries will be displayed on the University of Newcastle website (www.newcastle.edu.au).
4.5. The winner agrees to participate and co-operate if required in any and all editorial activities relating to the Competition. The winner will not be entitled to any fee.
5.1. There will be one winner who will receive an Apple iPad mini.
5.2. The winning image will be decided on by the WCMS Project Team in accordance with the criteria outlined.
5.3. The prize cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash.
5.4. The winner of the competition will be notified by either email or phone within 7 days of the winner being chosen.
6. NO LIABILITY
6.1. In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter's ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, or act of terrorism, the Promoter may, in its absolute discretion, cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same terms and conditions.
6.2. The University of Newcastle will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.
6.3. The University of Newcastle will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss or claim that may occur:
- in the participation in any prize;
- as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;
- due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person;
- in relation to the failure of an entry to be received by the Promoter due to technical problems or traffic congestion;
- arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any computer equipment, software, internet connection, any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer software related to or resulting from participation in this competition
6.4. The University of Newcastle assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.5. If for any reason a competition is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, to take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
