The U Community Garden
Sprouting everything from sunflowers to lettuce, to
rosemary and tomatoes The U Community Garden is a sure fire gourmet hit.
Funded by The U, the green project was developed and bought to fruition by UoN Services Industry Scholars who were assisted by a dedicated team of volunteers from across the university landscape. These green thumbs have been working hard on a little plot of land that is hidden behind Oval 4, near The Wollotuka Institute at our Newcastle campus at Callaghan. So far they have yielded crops including herbs, zucchinis, tomatoes, eggplants, beetroot, chillies, capsicums, silverbeet, spinach and lettuce.
With the recent addition of a rain water tank and a
compost bin the garden is truly sustainable.
