• Immigration

The University of Newcastle is an approved employer sponsor who can nominate overseas applicants for Temporary Business visa (subclass 457) and Permanent Residency visa (subclass 186).

Depending on the classification level of the appointment, we may engage the services of an Immigration Lawyer to assist with the employer nomination and/or application process. The University also has a dedicated Visa Team and access to Immigration Lawyers who can assist with your immigration queries.

• Relocation

We understand that attending an interview can be costly if you are not from the area. In most cases, we will meet travel and accommodation costs incurred as part of the interview process for senior professional and academic appointments. We will also contribute to relocation costs.

The University can organise quotes from removal companies and guide you through this process. We also have access to relocation specialists who can assist with advice on housing, schools and tours of the region.

• Starting work

We value your decision to work for us and will try to make your start with us as smooth as possible. We will assist you with relocation requirements and plan for your arrival by ensuring that everything you need is available on, or before, your first day. A dedicated Onboarding Coordinator will liaise with you before your arrival and help you settle in. Our orientation program will ensure you have a comprehensive understanding of the organisation and the requirements of your job.
