Industry Demand

Mechatronic students rise to the challenge in fluid-power industry: In 2012, Custom Fluid Power recruited three undergraduate mechatronics students to develop a mechatronics division within the company and extend the range of their products by integrating advanced mechanical design with electronic controls. The three students were selected from a second-year course, Mechatronics Systems, which introduces mathematical modelling of engineering systems using energy.

Michael Carson, Manager of Development and Mobile Products at Custom Fluid Power, said "By using energy, the students were able to learn quickly about fluid-power systems. Within six months, they were interacting with our design team at a level we expect from graduates after three years."
