Research and Innovation Division

We are leading research in sustainable energy production and use to benefit the community, the economy, and industry. Our priorities include clean energy production, energy efficiency, and the minimisation of carbon emissions.

We support the delivery of quality programs and services to our research higher degree candidates. We coordinate the administration of research higher degree candidature and research scholarships.

We provide research management support and policy development that underpins the University's reputation for excellence. We coordinate research funding opportunities and take a rigorous approach to the administration of research grants and contracts.

We actively engage with industry, business and government to deliver high impact quality research. Our two flagship research institutes; the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER) and the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), demonstrate our commitment to developing practical and productive partnerships with industry, government and community.
