Organising your sources
Now
that you have some idea of how to take notes effectively, as
well as strategies you can use to minimise unintentional plagiarism,
start thinking about organisation and management of your information. For
example, using research logs or bibliographic
software.
Plan ahead. What do you intend to do with the
notes you take, and how do you intend to use them?
Think about the following:
- Are your notes going to be on paper, or will
you be using an electronic device?
- What are you going to do with your paper notes
or electronic files?
- Are you going to have a filing system?
- How do you intend to keep track of the information
you have collected?
- How are you going to retrieve the information
when you need it?
It
is important to have your notes well organised for when you
need to compile your reference list or bibliography... |
