A major source of misunderstandings in human relationships is that people do not perceive similar causes for behaviour. Individualists tend to attribute events to internal individual causes more frequently than do collectivists whereas collectivists attribute events to situations and causes external to the individual more frequently than do individualists (Triandis & Bhawuk, 1997, p.??).
