Protecting Indigenous cultural and intellectual
property
Terri Janke (1998) in her report 'Our Culture:
Our Future - The Report on Australian Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual
Property Rights' states that the Copyright Act does not protect
Indigenous cultural and intellectual property because it is;
"... focused legally on individualistic commercial
concepts, rather than notions of communal ownership or the cultural
integrity of a work" 1 .
