Tracking and recording your Internet usage
Internet technology can track and record your
movements on the Internet, usually for marketing purposes. Web sites
achieve this by setting 'cookie' files in your browser.
Cookie files may record the pages you have visited
within a website in order to remember you the next time you visit,
tailoring marketing or advertising to your interests. Cookies can
also record username and password details.
Managing cookies
Although generally not harmful, some people find
the idea behind cookies intrusive. It is possible to control the
setting of cookies within your Internet browser or to use anti-cookie
software. Please note however that some Library databases requires
cookies to be enabled in your browser.
