Newspapers disseminate news, events and public affairs usually on a daily basis, and are useful for finding information on issues and topics that are local, national or worldwide, as well as editorials, commentaries, and popular opinion.

Newspapers are available from many libraries in print, microform (microfiche or microfilm), and online.

Because of the extensive coverage by newspapers, the number of articles contained in a single issue, and the frequency of their publication, it's unusual for a newspaper to have a printed index. However, library databases, such as ANZ Newsstand (ProQuest), index newspapers as well as provide full text access to articles.
