Nesting
Nesting is a way of grouping similar concepts
together. It also lets you control how the terms are searched.
Words are nested together by using parentheses
( ) in your search.
Example:
(elderly or aged) and (fall* or tripping)
The database will search for what is contained
in the parentheses ( ) first, and will then
combine the two. e.g. the database will look for elderly or aged
and then look
for fall* or tripping, and finally will combine the results.
Nesting allows you to use two or more boolean
operators (AND, OR, NOT) effectively within the one search strategy.
