Required texts, or prescribed texts, are textbooks which are referred to throughout a subject. A list of required texts is available in your subject course outlines. Here is an example of a required text.
Alternatively refer to the bookshop websites United Bookshop (Callaghan) and Co-op Bookshop (Ourimbah).
These textbooks are also available for borrowing from the Short Loans collection. Material from Short Loans is able to be borrowed for two hours or overnight (two hours before the library closes). You can borrow two Short Loans items at one time, as well as book items online for a particular time.
Items in Short Loans have been requested by your lecturer. To locate textbooks and other items in Short Loans select the Short Loans search option in NEWCAT as shown below:
There are three options to locate a Short Loan (or course reserve) list. This is either by course code, course name or lecturer’s name.
|Course Name||Social Enquiry|
Watch this video for more information on how to search short loans.
When the Short Loan list displays it is automatically arranged by title in alphabetical order. The required textbook, including call number, and whether the book is currently “In Library”, will be displayed as shown below:
You can also select the top of the columns to arrange the list by Author/Call Number/Format.
