RECOMMENDED TEXTS

Recommended texts are the textbooks recommended by your Lecturer for the subject. A list of recommended texts is available in your subject course outlines. The example below is of a recommended text:

These textbooks may also be available for borrowing from the Short Loans collection. Material from Short Loans is able to be borrowed for two hours or overnight (two hours before the library closes). You can borrow two Short Loans items at one time, as well as book items online for a particular time.

Items in Short Loans have been requested by your lecturer. To locate textbooks and other items in Short Loans select the Short Loans search option in NEWCAT as shown below:

There are three options to locate a Short Loan (or course reserve) list. This is either by course code, course name or lecturerís name.

When the Short Loan list displays it is automatically arranged by title in alphabetical order. The required textbook, including call number, and whether the book is currently ìIn Libraryî, will be displayed as shown below:

You can also select the top of the columns to arrange the list by Author/Call Number/Format.

To borrow for a longer period of time, search the Library Catalogue to locate 3 day loans or two week loans. Search for the title as shown below:

If there are no copies available to borrow, except for short loans, click on the icon to see if there is a copy available through the BONUS+ catalogue.
