Searching your Library
As your Library grows in size there may be times when you need to search for sets of references. EndNote provides a search tool which allows you to search very generally, or restrict searches to specific fields. Boolean operators may also be used to broaden or narrow more complex searches.
To search your Library:
- For a quick search, enter your terms in the Quick Search text box (
) located at the top right of the Library Window. - For a more structured search, click
located at the top right of the Library Window. The Search Panel will appear.
- Type the terms you want to search in the text entry
boxes within the Search Panel, select the appropriate field and boolean operators, then
.
- The Reference List Panel displays just the references matching your search. When you have finished working with your search results, select All References in the Groups Panel (or References > Show All References) to display all references in the Library Window.
Your searches can also be saved as Smart Groups - which are automatically updated as new references matching the search are added to the Library. You can also move search results into a Custom Groups.
