Online searching from within EndNote
It is possible to search library catalogues and PubMed directly from within your EndNote Library. To do an online search:
- Click the Online Search Mode (Temporary Library) icon (
), located top left of the Library Window. A temporary library window will appear.
- Select the catalogue or database to search from the Online Search list in the Groups Panel. If the catalogue is not listed there, click more.. then choose from the Choose A Connection Window. The Search Panel at the top of the Library Window is now ready for you to enter your search terms. Select the fields to search and the appropriate Boolean Operator, then click
. The Confirm Online Search Window will advise the number of results - click OK, or Cancel to return to the search window to refine the search strategy.
- Search results will be displayed in the Reference List Panel. Transfer references to keep in your EndNote Library by right-clicking on the reference/s then selecting Copy References To, then select your Library.
- Click the Integrated Library & Online Search Mode icon (
). Click OK to confirm you want to discard references from the Online Search. You will be returned to your Library Window where a Copied References Group includes the references copied from the online search.
