100 Women

Bringing together stories from Australia and around the world, the 100 Women book and photographic exhibition celebrates the achievements and challenges of one hundred remarkable women. Profiled women include artist Margaret Olley, actress Susie Porter and country singer Catherine Britt, as well as women who inspire through their daily achievements.

In their stories, women reflect on the changes they have seen in their own lifetimes, and tell of their hopes for the future. From eminent scientists and award-winning poets to single mothers and refugees from war-torn regions, the women in this collection inspire by sharing their personal stories.

With stunning black-and-white photography accompanying each story, 100 Women provides a compelling insight into the lives of contemporary women.

Gifted and talented graduate tops the state in HSC

Congratulations to Jacqueline Krynda, a graduate of the University’s Gifted and Talented program, who topped the state in HSC Legal Studies and was one of the Hunter’s best all-round performers.

Jacqueline, a former Merewether High Student, made the prestigious 2011 HSC all-round achievers list and receives the Premier’s Award for All-Round Excellence medal. She shared the Hunter's highest Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank with a Merewether classmate.

An avid poet, Jacqueline was the youngest of the remarkable females featured in the 100 Women book that was published by the University this year.

The Gifted and Talented Program offers exceptional high school students the opportunity to get a head start on their tertiary studies by undertaking first year university courses while attending school.
