The Wollotuka Institute is designed to consolidate all Indigenous activities of the University into one operational and strategic body in order to serve the University's strategic priority and commitment to Indigenous Collaboration. The four functions of the Institute incorporate Academic, Research, Indigenous Student Support and Development and Indigenous Staff Employment and Development
The Institute supports the most comprehensive range of Indigenous programs in Australia. This is through the influence of the complete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teaching, research and administrative staff who manage all the programs through the Institute.... more

Experience Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture
The newly developed Indigenous Australian Cultural Experience course (ABOR1902) will be accepting enrolments in 2013. This exciting new course introduces students to a practical insight into the experiences of Indigenous Australian peoples through a 21 day extensive field study throughout Australia. more information

Indigenous Scholarship Success for Wollotuka Staff
On November 7 2011 Liz Cameron, Lecturer, James Charles, Lecturer and Luke Halvorsen, Project Officer, all staff at The Wollotuka Institute, were presented with DEEWR's Indigenous Staff Scholarships of up to $38,000 at an Indigenous Higher Education awards ceremony. Luke's scholarship for 2011 and both Liz and James for 2012. Indigenous Staff Scholarships provide professional development opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff working at universities. The scholarships are part of the Australian Government's plan to help improve education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in higher education. more information

The Wollotuka Institute invites traditional and contemporary Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander artists to submit paintings, photographs, pottery/ceramics, sculpture and works on paper for our annual Indigenous art exhibition 2012 with the 1st Major Prize winner being awarded $5000.
