Biography

Dr Mitchell has won a number of prestigious awards. In 2008, she won the Academy of Management (Organizational Behavior Division) BEST PAPER (dissertation-based). She was also nominated and shortlisted for a NEWMAN AWARD, which is the ACADEMY'S HIGHEST HONOUR for a sole-authored paper based on a dissertation. In the same year she won the Irish Academy of Management BEST PAPER AWARD and in 2007 won the Asia Pacific Management Conference DISTINGUISHED PAPER AWARD. In 2007, Dr Mitchell was short-listed for the Best Student Paper in the Academy of Management, Management and Organizational Cognition Division. In 2009, Dr Mitchell won a COMPETITIVE FELLOWSHIP from the Centre for Institutional and Organisational Studies (University of Newcastle), based on her research contribution. While studying and working in University College Dublin, Dr Mitchell won numerous competitive academic awards including the Sir Charles Harvey Guinness IRISH MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE AWARD, the PROSPECTUS MEDAL, the DEANS LIST AWARD and a University College Dublin Teaching Fellowship.

Teams and Teamworking: Exploration of factors contributing to effectiveness and innovation in teams and teamworking. Particularly focused on the impact of diverse composition (multidisciplinary, cross-cultural and interprofessional teams), team climate and team dynamics.

Clusters: Investigation of industrial clusters, particularly knowledge flow and innovation in clusters. Investigation of intra- and extra-cluster dynamics with a focus on wine industry clusters.

Multinational Enterprise Management: Exploration of top management teams effects in subsidiaries and broader management influences on subsidiary success, particularly in emerging economies.
