Biography

Since completing my PhD in 2000, I have worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at The University of Calgary, Canada (2000-2001) and then as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering, The University of Newcastle (2001 - present). During both of these appointments my research has addressed the areas of structural behaviour of unreinforced masonry construction and the strengthening/retrofitting of existing unreinforced masonry and reinforced concrete structures.

Qualifications

  • PhD, University of Newcastle, 2000
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)(Honours), University of Newcastle, 1994

Research

Research keywords

  • fibre reinforced polymer strengthening
  • masonry structures - experimental
  • masonry structures - numerical

Research expertise

Experimental and numerical modelling of unreinforced masonry structures.

Experimental and numerical modelling of fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthened masonry structures.

The above research is aimed at developing improved methods of design for unreinforced masonry structures and efficicent means for retrofitting/strengthening existing masonry structures.
