Biography

I have formerly taught extensively in matters of law, international relations and politics at Macquarie University before being appointed to Newcastle University in 2010.

My principal research interest is the legality of unilateral non-colonial (UNC) secession in international law. This entails the study of classic subjects of international law such as state creation, self-determination of peoples, sources of international law, the use of force and recognition.

I am also particularly interested in the law of fiduciary obligations, dispositions of equitable interests in property, equitable priorities and theories of property law.
